WhatsApp message marketing
Everything that decides whether a WhatsApp campaign gets replies or gets your number restricted: the rules, how to collect opt-in, when to send, what a template should look like, and the limits nobody publishes. Written for small teams sending from WhatsApp Web, not for enterprise API setups.
1. The rules you actually have to follow
WhatsApp's Business Messaging Policy is short: get consent, don't send unsolicited bulk, honour opt-outs, no prohibited goods. On top of that sit local laws — GDPR in the EU, PECR in the UK, LGPD in Brazil, TCPA-adjacent rules in the US. All of them agree on three things: record how consent was given, name your business in the first message, and give an unambiguous way to stop.
2. Building an opt-in list that survives
The strongest list comes from click-to-chat: a wa.me link on your site, receipt, packaging or bio that starts the conversation from the customer's side. That inbound first message is your consent record. Buying phone lists or scraping groups is the single fastest way to get a number banned — those recipients block instead of replying.
3. Timing, pacing and volume
Send inside local business hours, spread messages with a randomized delay rather than a fixed one, cap the day, and take a long pause every N messages so the traffic looks human. A new number should ramp over two to three weeks instead of blasting on day one. Pacing matters more than total volume.
4. Templates that get replies
Keep it under 400 characters, lead with who you are, one clear ask, one link at most. Personalise with the contact's name and a field that proves relevance (last order, city, appointment date). Write three variants of every campaign and rotate them — identical text sent hundreds of times is both a spam signal and a worse offer.
5. Handling replies and opt-outs
Reply within minutes while the notification is fresh — WhatsApp's whole advantage over email is the response window. Keep a blacklist so anyone who says stop is excluded from every future campaign automatically, and re-check it before each send.
6. Measuring and improving
Log every send, then compare reply rate by variant, by segment and by send hour. Kill what underperforms after ~100 sends rather than guessing. Export the history so results live outside the tool.
Doing this without an API
WA Sender Tool is a Chrome extension that runs on your own WhatsApp Web session: CSV import, {name} personalisation, randomized delays, a daily cap, sending windows, long pauses, AI-varied wording, templates and a blacklist. No account, no login — $9.99/month or $69.99/year, activated with a license code. See pricing or compare the free options first.

How to Avoid a WhatsApp Ban When Sending Bulk Messages
Bans almost never come from volume alone. They come from patterns: identical text, zero pauses, cold numbers and people hitting Block. Here is how to stay safe.

What is WhatsApp message marketing?
Sending promotional, transactional or follow-up messages to people on WhatsApp — usually from a business number to a list of contacts who agreed to hear from you. It is done either through the official WhatsApp Business API (paid per conversation, template approval required) or from WhatsApp Web with a personal or Business app number and a sending tool.
Is WhatsApp marketing allowed?
Promotional messaging is allowed to people who opted in. WhatsApp's Business Messaging Policy forbids unsolicited bulk messages, and accounts that generate blocks or spam reports get restricted. The practical rule: only message people who expect it, and make opting out effortless.
How many marketing messages can I send per day?
There is no published number for personal or Business-app numbers. What triggers restrictions is the pattern: high volume from a new number, fast fixed delays, identical text to everyone, and messages to people who never saved you. A warmed-up number sending a few dozen to low hundreds a day with randomized pacing is the usual safe zone.
What is the best time to send WhatsApp marketing messages?
Local business hours — roughly 10:00 to 13:00 and 16:00 to 19:00 on weekdays — get the highest reply rates and the fewest complaints. Never send overnight; a notification at 2am is the fastest route to a block. Use a sending window so the tool physically cannot send outside those hours.
Do I need the WhatsApp Business API for marketing?
Not for small volumes. The API makes sense at thousands of conversations a month, when you need webhooks and multi-agent inboxes, and you accept per-conversation pricing and template approval. Below that, sending from WhatsApp Web with pacing controls is faster to set up and far cheaper.
How do I measure WhatsApp campaign results?
Track delivered vs read vs replied, and reply rate per message variant. Export campaign history to CSV and compare variants of the same offer. A healthy opt-in list typically returns 15–40% replies; below 5% usually means the list, not the copy, is the problem.
