How to set your greeting message in WhatsApp Business
- Open the WhatsApp Business app and go to Settings → Business tools → Greeting message.
- Turn on “Send greeting message” and paste the template you copied above.
- Choose recipients: everyone, everyone not in your address book, or everyone except selected contacts.
- For outside-hours replies, do the same under Away message and set your schedule.
What makes a welcome message work
- Keep it under four lines. The goal is to start a conversation, not to answer everything upfront.
- Tell people exactly what to do next: reply with a date, an order number, a question. Vague greetings get vague replies.
- Set a reply expectation (“we usually reply within 2 hours”) — it cuts repeat messages and complaints.
- Sound like a person, not a ticket system. One emoji is plenty.

How do I set a welcome message on WhatsApp Business?
In the WhatsApp Business app: Settings → Business tools → Greeting message. Turn it on, paste the text you generated here, and choose who receives it. The greeting is sent automatically to people who message you for the first time or after 14 days of no contact.
What's the difference between a greeting and an away message?
A greeting message is sent when someone first contacts you; an away message is sent when you're outside business hours. Both are set in the WhatsApp Business app under Business tools — this generator gives you templates for both.
Can I use these templates on regular WhatsApp?
The automatic sending is a WhatsApp Business feature, but you can copy these texts anywhere: save them as quick replies, paste them manually, or use them in bulk campaigns with WhatsApp Sender Tool.
